A cold, delicate hand grabs yours and pulls. It pulls, and it pulls... there's a sense of urgency in this icy grasp, as well as a trace of reluctance. Abruptly the hand let's go, right as your vision fades to black, and for a brief moment, only a brief moment, your senses disappear. There's only the eerie sensation of weightlessness before your feet are settled back on solid ground again.

Why just make more bad stuff for yourself? It doesn't make any sense.

Her voice takes on a condescending tone.

"Because this is what she deserves. Besides... can 'bad' people really change? Can they? I'm certain... there are quite a few bad people who refuse to change. And instead, Hail has had to change for them, and now, I am here, to help her change into something she can accept, too."

. . . are you saying you're bad because bad things happened to you now? Because other people refused to change for you?

That wasn't the point! Saying you're bad because bad things happened to you is just...! What about the good things; don't they count for anything?

"That is a problem. You see... I may not have been blunt. I am not the good things at all. I cannot understand them. It's not who I am. The good things are in that doll."

She just looks at Janta, who in turn looks away immediately.

*also...stepping closer.*

So why can't the two of you work together?

Sad things and happy things happen to everyone. Hell, maybe your life has had more of one than the other. But that doesn't mean it can't change!

Janta gasps, and just shakes its head over and over.

"No, no no no no... no, I cannot work with someone who makes me feel this terrible...!"

The Hail simply stares at it, thinking about your words carefully.

"I refuse to change."

*reaches out to take one of Hail's hands again, if she'll let him.*

Why did you separate yourselves out so hard...?

And why don't you want to change? You said it was a problem too.

This time her skin burns with an intense, blistering heat.

"Because I was born from the very thoughts that make her want to kill herself. And I think she deserves to think this way. Are you two done annoying me?"

*sets his teeth against it*

...no. No, we're not.

If you can give us a reason for her deserving it besides "it happened," maybe you'd have a chance of convincing us. Maybe if you could tell us why someone deserving something matters, too.

[he's reaching to see what the skull feels like]

She makes to yank the skull away from you, to tuck it in her cloak—but even when within your reach it has a cold, prickling aura.

"...the reason is simply this: I want this suffering."

Her teeth are gritted now. She tries to step back, away, pulling from your hold on her wrist.

*...maybe keeping a grip on her will be enough of a distraction for Lloyd to snag that...*

That doesn't even make sense, Hail!

Haven't you ever wanted something different?!

[TRYING FOR A GRAB, YYY]

"Call me what you will. I am the part of Hail with the greatest desire. I am tired of repeating myself...!"

When you grab the skull, this cold, stiffening pulse is sent through your fingers, your hands—this skull wants you to kill yourself.

And the hand that Mithos is holding onto will burst into flames now.

*YELLS and -- wrenches her towards him*

[wrenches the skull away from her as that happens, wavering at that pulse — then throws it to the ground and smashes at it with his sword with a yell, if he can]

The skull shatters into pieces—and immediately dissipates, not dangerously like the tree had done before, but disappearing.

The cloaked figure screams.

Her entire body suddenly immerses into flames, but it doesn't seem like she's on fire. Rather, it seems like her body is giving off this hot, disorienting flame. Her words are almost nonsensical, and her voice is shrill; she's still screaming at the top of her lungs, and now trying to grab both of you by your shirts.

"H̢͝O͞W̸ ̛͝C̨͜͢O͘U̡LD͟ ̶́Y̶̵O҉̛Ư͜͠ ̛̀́H̵̨O̶҉͏W͟͜ ̨C̛O̷͟U̧͡Ĺ̨̢D̸̕̕ ̸Y̨O̸U̴ ͜͞H̢̕O̵W͜ ͏͢C̴̷̡Ǫ̀ÙL̷͜D̷ ̡͞YƠU!!"
